Weinberger, Jack ‘44

Weinberger, Jack ‘44

Jack entered Kings Point as a Prelim in 1943 and lived in the Quonset hut barracks Corsair. It was cold in February; the only heat was a pot belly stove. The prelim course was only 6 weeks. He sailed on the AT Fairfax, sister ship to the Dorchester that was torpedoed. His ship ferried troops to England via Greenland. He said the Germans had mined the Bay of Fundy.

He will send lists of the men who were torpedoed, ships lost and other material we can use; when finished it will be sent to the Academy Library. He will also provide info on the monument to the Merchant Marine and the Cadets at Camden, NJ that one of his deceased classmates had help establish.
